How did you get involved with ASUW?
I initially got involved in ASUW from joining UW Leaders! I heard about the leadership development program from an all-campus email that was sent by the ASUW President at the time. I also had the opportunity to attend an orientation break-out session where the President and Vice-President at the time talked about how to get involved in ASUW.
What does your job entail?
• Act as the Chief Executive Officer to provide a vision and manage the association’s $1.7 million budget, 72 employees, and 500+ volunteers.
• Serve as the spokesperson for undergraduate students when lobbying in the state legislature.
• Act as the line of representation for over 40,000 students to the faculty, administration, and staff of the University of Washington.
Favorite part of working for the ASUW?
My favorite thing about working for ASUW is that I get to work with people from all over campus. As a member of the Greek Community ASUW provided a great avenue to branch out and make connections with people who were not a part of Greek Life. These connections include not only students, but university staff and administrators as well. Most importantly I am able to represent an array of student experiences/perspectives to high-decision making levels at the UW.
What career do you hope to pursue long term?
My long term goal is to one day come back to higher education and be an administrator for student life on a college campus. I am passionate about an accessible and equitable for anyone seeking higher education, and I would love to be a support system for students who need it. In the mean time, immediately after college I am seeking to join an organization that is dedicated to move towards a more equitable society in any capacity.
